Our Story

Solar cooling built for the barn, the greenhouse, and the backcountry

Western Harmonics started in 2012 with a simple idea: the sun that heats up a greenhouse or a barn is the same sun that can power the fan to cool it. More than a decade and 6,000+ fans later, that idea still drives everything we build.

Why we build what we build

Heat stress is one of the biggest problems growers and livestock owners face, and running power out to a remote barn or greenhouse is expensive and often impossible. We set out to solve both at once.

Our fans mount almost anywhere and run straight off their own solar panels, so there is no wiring, no electrician, and no power bill. When the sun is beating down and cooling matters most, our fans are working hardest.

Today we are expanding beyond fans with PowerJam, our new portable power station, bringing that same rugged, solar-first approach to power anywhere you need it.

Our mission

To make clean, reliable cooling and power available anywhere the sun reaches — no grid, no wiring, and no monthly bill required.

We believe the places that need cooling most — remote barns, backcountry greenhouses, off-grid homesteads — are exactly the places the grid serves worst. Solar closes that gap, and we build the rugged hardware that makes it practical for real working environments.

How we started

Western Harmonics began in 2012 when our founder, frustrated that there was no practical way to cool a greenhouse that sat well beyond the nearest power line, set out to build one. The insight was simple: the sun overheating the greenhouse could just as easily run the fan that cooled it.

In 2014 we brought the first solar fan kit to the United States market. What started as a fix for one grower's problem became a product line trusted by thousands of farmers, ranchers, and off-grid households — more than 6,000 fans shipped and counting.

More than a decade on, we still design every product around that first principle, and we still talk to the growers and livestock owners who put our fans to work every season.

Our engineering philosophy

  • Design for the sun, not around it

Direct-solar DC motors run hardest exactly when heat peaks. Aligning demand with supply removes the need for an inverter and cuts the parts that fail.

  • Build for the barn, not the showroom

Dust, heat, moisture, and vibration are the real operating conditions. We choose field-serviceable, weather-tolerant components that survive them.

  • Simple enough to install yourself

No electrician, no permit, no grid tie. If a customer can mount a panel and match polarity, they can run our gear.

  • Support from the people who build it

Buying manufacturer-direct means the person answering your sizing question is the person who engineered the product.

What we stand for

Solar first

Every product is designed to run on the sun, cutting cooling costs to zero and working where the grid does not reach.

Built to last

Rugged, field-serviceable hardware made for barns, greenhouses, and job sites, not disposable consumer gear.

Grower tested

Developed alongside real farmers and greenhouse operators who put our fans to work every single season.

Original Manufacturers

Buy manufacturer direct and get support from the people who actually build the products.
